Bluetooth and Voice Command

You want to use your bluetooth headset to activate voice command.

The trouble is, it doesn't work.

You don't want to read the FAQ or the sticky thread on Bluetooth headsets.

The answer is: it doesn't work.

Can't send mail

You want to send mail. You can read mail, but it won't let you send. The funny thing is it works when your PPC is docked, but not when it's on the data network (Express Network for Verizon, Vision for Sprint.)

The answer is: enable authentication.

Wait... What do we mean? Search the forums for SMTP AUTH.

My Bluetooth Headset has static or crackle or doesn't work right

You want to use it. It doesn't work.

You don't want to read the sticky thread on Bluetooth headsets.

The answer is: Too bad.

Without reading the threads on your particular headset, you'll never know if the problem is your headset, the firmware version on the pocket pc, the bluetooth version, or that you're just a plain idiot.

Sucks to be you.

My control panels are gone!!!

Your system control panels only show seven or so entries. Wahhh.

Fortunately this is not in the faq.

The answer is: uninstal Voice Command. Watch them all come back. Write Microsoft.

Yes, there's no reason a non interrupt-driven voice-dialer needs to use as much DLL and resources as Voice Command. Yet, poor coding and memory hogging is the hallmark of Microsoft, and Voice Command is no exception. A truly great voice recognition engine is stuffed into a piece of crap software layer that makes your pocket pc act like a rag doll on ludes.

I hate FAQs and sticky threads!!!

You've joined the forum in the last five days and you want answers. Your time is valuable and all those people who are trying to waste it by making you read the stuff they wrote don't understand the value of your time. Sure, they spent time writing it, but you're too busy to read it.

The answer is: Go Fuck Yourself.

Yes, there's no reason you shouldn't indulge in self-progeny; after all, nobody else is better suited to be your mate or your offspring. Remember, if it ain't inbred it ain't gonna be family.

Should I get a Treo or a PPC???

You're wondering whether you should get a pocket pc with Windows based operating system or a treo with a palm pilot operating system.

The answer is: Get a Treo. Then you can bother the people on their forums.

I got this installer CAB file, and I unpacked it and now I have these little files. Help?

Tell me something. When you get new tires for your car do you cut them open, and then write the manufacturer saying "Hey, I got this tire all apart, and I see a valve and a tread and a sidewall and some reinforcing steel. Um how do I mount these on my car?

The answer is: delete all the little files. Move the cab file to your ppc. Click on it.

I saw someone with newer ExtROM! How do I get it?

Extended Rom versions are the Carrier customization files. This is the stuff that runs after a hard reset and installs various programs your carrier thought you should have, as well as set the logos you see on your phone.

Carrier customizations are carrier dependent and phone dependent. In other words, the version numbers are only meaningful for other version of the same phone from the same carrier.

That having been said, you should already have reached the conclusion, but just in case...

The answer is: You don't need to upgrade. Don't do it.
